Question from visitor about fat cells

How many fat cells will I lose after one pound of weight loss?
None!
Unfortunately we don't lose any fat cells after weight loss, we only lose the fat stored inside them. When we gain weight the fat cells swell in in size to make room for the excess energy consumed. The more fat our body has to store the more the fat cells inflate. Fat cells can stretch up to 1000 times their normal size, thus humans can store huge amounts of energy.
We cannot eliminate fat cells through exercise but we use up the fat inside of them. As fat is used up the cells shrink in size. We need to maintain a slight negative energy balance for the majority of time in order for the body to use up the excess fat inside the fat cells. This is when the cells will shrink and you'll eventually see the shape of the muscles underneath. The shrinkage of fat cells always take time and effort it cannot possibly be done quickly, this is the reason why those quick fixes never work long term.
